Steaks were very good, and the restaurant decor tasteful and relaxing. But the portions of everything other than the steaks were the tiniest Ive ever encountered in a restaurant. For example a chocolate brownie with creme anglaise was a small slice of cake no more than about 60 x 65 x 12mm (Id expected about 4 times the volume) and la creme a few 2 dimensional lines painted onto the plate. I expected about 30cc of cream. A number of choices on the not massive menu were not available, in spite only about 20 to 30 per cent of tables being occupied. On a Saturday evening. Service was on the slow side, taking 2 hours and 10 mins for a 2 course meal for a group of 6, after which I felt hungry. These factors combined made me wonder whether the restaurant may be in financial difficulty.
Had my daughters wedding there everything done so well down to the last small detail

My husband has already posted a review about how disappointed we were with today's meal. I would like to suggest 2 things - firstly that you review the offering for those of us who prefer not to eat meat , but conversely enjoy a carvery , let's face it theres a lot of vegetables to choose from. However pasta as an option on the menu is just boring. No vegetarian gravy was offered and the attitude of the man serving the carvery left a lot to be desired. Secondly I suggest you train your staff on how to at least appear interested in their customers. A simple "Hello " and "goodbye" would be a start. You do yourselves no favours.
A nice little family owned hotel. The rooms are all on one level in a separate annexe. They are clean and modern with a decent level of finish. The hotel is situated in a beautiful rural setting with good access to main arterial routes. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is if a good quality with decent sized portions. Al in all no too bad
