Get what you pay for but nice Greatly improved from the last time I went 4 years agp.Reasonably clean and tidy, nice breakfast.Bathroom still abit odd but shower new & good.Lack of parking was its main draw back. But they let me park on the drive.Would happily stay they again.
The only good review on here is by glyn morris who is part of the morris family who own it. The place is so filthy and disgusting that nobody writes a good thing about it. There are some pretty dire b & b out there this is one of the worst.
Traditional guest house offering good value accommodation and close to the town, Seven Valley Railway and local amenities. Highly recommended.
Me and a mate arrived at midday I was shown the room and whets the bathroom was I was then told to pay the full amount which I had no problem with. The next morning we woke up wanting a drink to find the cups had what look like dried coffee at the bottom and we also notice the room was dirty the promlem started when we when down for breakfast it was totally disgusting and I couldn't finish it even though I was hungry. I can say I'll not be staying here again I would rather pay a little more and stay the guest house over the road.
Well we arrived about teatime on Sunday and was greeted by what seemed a friendly lady. We were shown our room right at the top of the hotel and first impressions wasn't good. We were told we can fix our own blind if we needed to use it! Thinking she was just a little quirky, we left to go and meet our friends for dinner feeling tired and hungry. The landlady asked for the payment agreed of sixty five pounds straight away which surprised us. I only had twenty so we promised to draw it from our bank and give it to her later. After a great night out we woke the next day at 9am by a banging on the door. It was the husband of the landlady, asking if we want breakfast. Feeling a little rough we declined breakfast but he then asked for payment quite abruptly, we didn't have a good night sleep and getting ready we noticed how filthy the room was with dust everywhere mismatched cups and containers for tea and coffee, no bulb in the only lamp, cupboards that didn't open and kitchen lino on the floor. Feeling we wasn't getting our money's worth we decided to ask for another discount as we hadn't bothered with breakfast. The door knocked again and we opened it and the landlady said she wanted payment as they were going out. We asked for another discount as we were not satisfied with the room, she agreed but on leaving the room we were met by the husband on the stairs whom said we couldn't leave until full payment was made and STOOD blocking our way. We tried to tell him of our complaints but he wasn't interested and started to become aggressive and grabbed my husbands arm and my husband told him not to touch him. Trying to go downstairs he began threatening to call the police and we said he should do that but again offered a less amount but he refused and wanted full payment. Disgusted at his attitude we threw the full amount of money at him and left vowing to inform trading standards and any other relevant agency of our treatment. He stated he didn't care what we said or wrote online and his general attitude was vile. Our experience of the hotel and owners was horrid, and I strongly advise that people who want a pleasant stay DO NOT CHOOSE THIS HOTEL!!!!
